Privacy Policy

Short version

Jagttider has no account, no tracking and no ads. The app uses your location to look up hunting hours, sunlight and weather for the place you choose. The location is sent to our server to fetch hunting hours and weather, and to Apple to resolve the place name and show the map. We don't know who you are.

What information the app uses

Your location. The app uses the location you choose — either from the phone's GPS, once you allow it, or a place you search for or set on a map yourself. The location is used for three things:

1. Calculating sunrise and sunset. This happens on the phone.
2. Looking up which species have hunting hours where you are. This happens on our server.
3. Fetching the weather forecast for the place. This happens on our server.
4. Resolving the place name so you can see where you picked. This happens at Apple.

No other information. The app has no account, doesn't ask for a name or email, and contains no third-party analytics or tracking tools.

What is sent to our server

When the app fetches hunting hours or weather, it sends the coordinate for the chosen place to our server. The coordinate is sent precisely — hunting hours depend on which area you're standing in, and the boundaries don't follow a grid.

We don't store your location or IP address in a database, and we don't link them to you. The server only stores the weather forecast itself, in cells a few kilometres across, so the same forecast can be reused for everyone. It holds weather data, not user information.

Our hosting provider Supabase keeps technical operational logs of requests to the server. They may contain your IP address and the coordinate the request contained. The logs are used only for operations and troubleshooting and are deleted automatically after at most seven days.

The server runs on Supabase in the EU (Ireland). Supabase is our data processor.

What is sent to Apple

Three of the app's features use Apple's own map services, bypassing our server entirely:

• The place name. To show "Frederiksværk" instead of two numbers, the app looks up the name at Apple. Your precise coordinate is sent for this.
• Searching for a place. If you search for a place, what you type is sent to Apple as you type it.
• The map. If you pick the place on the map, the app fetches map tiles and aerial imagery from Apple for the area you're viewing.

Apple does not receive a name, email or any account from us — the app has none. What Apple itself does with the information follows Apple's own privacy policy for map and location services.

Who we share with

To fetch the weather forecast, our server forwards a coordinate to:

• DMI (the Danish Meteorological Institute)
• MET Norway (the Norwegian Meteorological Institute), as a fallback when DMI doesn't respond

Neither receives your precise coordinate. The server first rounds it to the centre of a cell a few kilometres across and sends only that.

Beyond them, Apple receives the information described in the section above, and Supabase is our data processor for the server. None of them receive anything from us that identifies you.

We do not sell, rent or share information with others.

How long

The location is stored on your phone until you change or delete it. The server stores no information about you — only technical operational logs for up to seven days, and weather forecasts per area with no link to users.

The widget

The home screen widget reads the place you've chosen in the app and fetches hunting hours and weather the same way the app does. It uses no other information.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectification, erasure and objection. Because the app doesn't know your identity, we can't in practice locate information about you specifically — but write to jagttider@dyrr.app if you have questions.

You can complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency (Datatilsynet), Carl Jacobsens Vej 35, 2500 Valby, Denmark, datatilsynet.dk.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information about them.

Changes

If we change this policy, we update the date at the top. Material changes are mentioned in the app's release notes.
